Enso Series

Enso symbolA symbol is a communication element intended to simply represent a complex person, object, group, or idea. It often is a graphic or small drawing which is in fact a simplified reproduction of an idea meant to trigger your conscious or unconscious mind towards that special meaning. Symbols help us focus and help call forth a special type of energy.

In Zen Buddhism, an enso (circle) is a circle that is hand drawn in one or two uninhibited brush strokes to express a moment when the mind is free to let the body create. Some artists draw enso with an opening in the circle, while others close the circle.

For me, drawing the enso sets the mood to continue creating in a free-minded state, letting my hand be the guide to the feelings I want to emanate.
